Funny, it's always a Chinese arguing against anything Chinese - that's the blunder. Pretty sure he'll agree to it if you remove the "chinese" from the sentence. The US failed because it's thousand miles away and don't have the history nor the understanding of the regional culture; China did and does and this is just a renewal of the ancient silk road.

Assuming railway shipment is 4 time more expensive by one of the guest is correct. The container shipping from Europe takes ~ 30 days to get to Hongkong, 40 days to Shanghai, and assuming we need additional 20 days for collection before shipment and further redistribution on arrival. With the  fact that nowadays the train takes 7 to 17 days, and train can take cargo along the way, I think there cost is not a big factor that will block the shipment from the land.

China can't do more investment in US bonds due to forefeature of funds  ,enemy of future. Having lot of foreign exchange may be used for forced loans to small countries to grab their land rather than helping in their economies. Very smart and desperate move
