"Socialism" is what the rich elite call anything with democratic ideals.  Friedman's claims are absurd and without any legitimate basis in fact other than pulling his claims from his own ass....

Starting to get scary.  We have no decent leadership and our country is in the midst of a major social meltdown.

The most expensive and stupid thing is when you let others think for you, and you refuze to see what-s going on around you .

Americans believe and promote the idea of being free, without truly questioning or defining what freedom truly is... waving their flag and being religiously patriotic...  praising the word of freedom like a deity. From the outside it seems a tad shallow/glossy, like a programmed ideology.

The american people have forgotten how to stand up for their freedom and prosperity. Too complacent unfortunately and still many more don't even know what's going on, unless they watch professor Wolff.

He’s twice as smart as any of us.  And Chris Hedges is 3 times as smart.

In the U.S. it's not "COVID 19;" it's "TrumpVirus"

From a historical context, it took a 13 million+ strong ground up movement of the congress of industrial organizations and the american federation of labor to do anything about the last round of corporatist robber barons. Those capitalists of the past bought and sold politicians at a whim, those capitalists fought tooth and nail to embed their monopolistic business processes into law, those capitalists resented the deal they made with FDR to the point of seething obsession and have spent a century undoing as much of that last great labor movement's accomplishments as possible.

There is no reasoning with capital in the long run, it is a system that can only prioritize the funneling of wealth into fewer and fewer hands over time by its own design. Bargaining with reformists, those like FDR, is a trap and one whose gains are often reversible in less than a generation. The McCarthy era more than willingly showed that card with executions of socialists, communists, and anarchists on falsified evidence. Expecting capital to vote itself out of power, to let go willingly, is a fools errand.

Capital will not let itself die willingly, it will take mass movements to get rid of it, just as it took the black death to shatter the declining hold of feudalism.

And we continue to vote them in and support their enterprises whether we need their product or not

The Hegelian Dialectic. Problem, Reaction, Solution.  They create the problems which elicits a certain reaction from the people and then offer a solution that only benefits them!!!

Most people don't care. The public accepts their licks and is just glad it's not worse. Brazil+ economy is acceptable to most.
