Bobby Darin was the most famous man of his time. This multi-talented musician's style stretched across genres, and his appeal lasted way longer than his start as a teen idol.

He did a lot of living in those 37 years. Another super talented man, gone way too soon.

"Dream lover" is one of my all time favourite songs. Has been for decades and is not likely to change. It's a shame he died so young and that he was so ill. Crying shame.

Brilliant performer.
So sad he was only 37 when he died.
No wonder Kevin Spacey played him in a major film.
Uncanny likeness.

Both he and Sandra Dee never remarried. Bobby Darin was Sandra Dee's first love.

I actually think he was the BEST male vocalist of that era. His intonation, his vibrato, his phrasing - all immaculate!!

"I used to be pissed off at Bobby Darin because he changed styles so much (rock n roll, country, swing, jazz, show tunes, folk, easy listening, spirituals, ballads, protest songs, blues, film scores).

Now I look at him and think he was a ***** genius.

Mack the Knife was cool, too. But it was almost a distraction, cause it was such a radical change and you were goin: Hey wait a minute, Wow! This is really good, but who the ** - is this the same guy? What the hell happened here?

That's the first artist I can remember where you're goin...Well, hell- he just changed. He's completely different. And he's really into it. Doesn't sound like he's not there.

Dream Lover, Simple Song Of Freedom, Queen of the Hop, Splish Splash - tell me about those records, Mr. Darin. Did you write those all the same day? He just changed so much. Just kinda went from one place to another. Completely different sounds. So it's hard to tell who Bobby Darin really was."

๐Ÿ‘Wow! Way before my time, but I can appreciate his accomplishments & all of that by age 37. He looked so much older though (but everyone looked older back then I suppose) definitely an “old soul” too. I’m amazed at how he crossed over so many different genres and audiences. Gone too soon though.๐Ÿ˜”

As an adult i fell in love with singers like Bobby Darin,Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. How sad he died so young. When i watched Beyond the Sea i was completely taken aback about how much Kevin Spacey looks like Bobby Darin

I had preliminary ideas about Darin before his TV show and expected a somewhat arrogant host. Instead he turned out to be quite the showman and his TV show was a delight to watch, and I traditionally abhor television. So, when he died it was a shock such that I had actually just discovered him....then he was gone. He could have been a superstar. Very sad. Great memories, though.

Splish Splash sounds like it was written in 12 minutes. Not cause it's a bad song - It's the lyrics & the silly, yet catchy arrangement. If it had taken 12 hours it might have complicated things. Had it taken 12 days to write it would have lost its jingle-like charm. It just makes sense to me.

Dream Lover!? Mack the Knife!? What an amazing talent!

Nice, I loved the end of this video. It tugged at my heart strings. It reminded me of WALL-E, when he's alone in post apocalyptic Earth, feeling sorry for himself.

Well done!

I always heard that he chose the name Darin from a neon sign for a Mandarin restaurant in his neighborhood. The letters MAN had burned out so that only DARIN was lit. He decided to use that as his stage name.

I loved Kevin Spacey's bio movie. He brought Bobby Darin's memory to the masses. Though picked apart by the critics, it was still a great GREAT movie. It was a project from Spacey's heart. Another great one, Alpha 11!!!!
