Man, I miss Paco. What a monster player. I can see why most of his contemporaries ridiculed him for playing Jazz and other "non-pure" styles. They were clearly riddled in fear over how much better this guy was than any of them.

Everyone is sweating bullets, guitar face on..and Paco is playing like it's a walk in the park. He's the only one I don't worry about screwing up.

This is what it means to be a true musician. Insane technical and musical proficiency. Masters of their instruments. It's sad that our world is pleased with such simple music and has lost appreciation for true musicians.

While I agree these guys are light years ahead of what a lot of people thing are the greatest even 20 or more years later, I don't see this as the best example to highlight that point. To me this is more about playing for the crowd which is the part I dislike about the new shredder generation. In general I find Dimeola has always been that type of player.  McGlaughlin is beyond words, but he is at his best when he is totally into the music and not playing to the audience. Paco is obviously at the top of his genre but I've only seen him in this type venue and he never strays from his comfort zone. I think there are much better examples to highlight all three individually.

I had an opportunity to see this live during Al Di Meola concert. That was fantastic. Several days I was under the impression. And that was only Al Di Meola. I can imagine what are feeling people during this concert seeing the performance of three guitar giants.

Paco de Lucia's passion and musicality were unmistakable qualities, and this trio was a wonderful collaboration. Paco will be greatly missed. He was very special.
