President Xi Jinping's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Wuhan was seen as an attempt to ameliorate relations that have been careful yet frigid since the Dong Lang (Doklam) standoff occurred. What was China seeking from these discussions? Is India changing its policy towards China? And is there room for India in the Belt and Road Initiative?

It's important for both India and China to forge a good relationship. Asian can over seed the western power if both country continues to be good neighbours and good friends. God bless India and China

I don't believe that they can be friends. Increase the army strength to 1,000,000 soliders at Chinese border modiji. Keep these chinkies out of doklam.

India shouldn't trust China. Read the 1961-62 War between India and China. They kept saying they are friends and then as soon as the Peace or Panchsheel treaty expired, the PLA invaded India. Never let them have the element of surprise again. Chinese are backstabbers. Of all, India shouldn't worry since China has a border issue with anyone who has a border with them (except North Korea and Pakistan since they are puppet states). They will never resolve any border issues with anyone as CCP is a CGP (Chinese Greedy Party).

China as the economically and militarily dominant nation, will set the agenda. Militarily, India is a status-quoist power. It does, however, have red lines. It is up to the Chinese to respect these- in which case the economic partnership will burgeon, or not- in which case the relationship will become quite adversarial. And I agree with the panelist that India does not look at USA through rose-tinted glasses; it has definite concerns.

China and India can have a shared future together for mutual benefit. These two civilizations existed alongside each-other for thousands upon thousands of years. Do not let the Western powers create animosity to divide & conquer like they did in the Colonial era. Play it smart and keep level-headed.

India must buck up and grow its Economy to world standard like China. No more manipulated by others, be self sufficient and self-reliant. At least Asia will be more peaceful without US pumping hate rhetorics dividing Asia and have to depend on US influence forever.
It is not a dream too far. GO INDIA GO

Excellent discussion and great analysis. The moderator is well informed about the geopolitics of the region and so do Professor Jiang Weran and Worthy Diplomat Mr. Liu Youfa. They all understand that India cannot be trusted fully due to its commitments to USA. It is obvious that India-Pakistan rivalry will always be a hindrance. Indians always believe that China trusts Pakistan more than India. Overall, PM Modi is a tricky guy and seriously unreliable.
