Ask Prof Wolff: What's the Story in Cuba?

sk Prof Wolff: What's the Story in Cuba? 16,195 views Aug 11, 2021 1.5K 26 Share Save Democracy At Work 246K subscribers A Patron of Economic Update asks: "Hey Prof. Wolff, could you speak to the recent protests in Cuba? Specifically, could you speak to the U.S. embargo that economically squeezes Cuba and, if relevant, how it relates to these protests? I’m not super familiar with the details but I find it frustrating that all these pundits say 'Cuba wants freedom and their economy sucks cause they’re commies.' It’s pretty clear that there’s more to the story and they purposefully omit that." This is Professor Richard Wolff's video response. RKNYUM RKNYUM 1 day ago The United States political class and media apparatus are notorious for commenting and reporting on failing states as though they weren't responsible for their current condition (at least in part). Look at Haiti, look at Venezuela, look at Afghanistan, look at Iraq, look at Puerto Rico-- the list is endless across the globe. The U.S hegemon is leaving (in its wake) death, mayhem, chaos, destruction and suffering and its citizenry is so distracted with tribal conflicts that this activity goes unchecked. 91 Juarez J Juarez J 1 day ago “Sleazy US politicians denouncing Cuba...” LOL spot on Professor! 👌🏼 45 Guy Guy 20 hours ago Cuba is another example of the cruelty & inhuman treatment of a small & defenceless country by the US, the only superpower in the world until the recent rise of China & Russia. Hopefully, China & Russia will help Cuba rebuilt its economy to restore prosperity for its citizens. If the US was a benevolent country, it would have stop its 60 years embargo on Cuba a long time ago. China will bring about a new geopolitic equilibrium that will prevent the US from abusing its economic & military power on other nations. 17 WTFViewer WTFViewer 1 day ago If memory serves, Cuba was a massive sugar plantation prior to its revolution. If America had its way, most of Cuba would be regressed back to that plantation. Not that getting that massive plantation would mean a drop in food prices here - that would mean lost profits, and America can't have that. It's all about domination, resources and wealth. Also, Cuba has made some spectacular advances in anti-cancer treatments recently, even with American interference. Go Cuba. 72 Tom Riviere Tom Riviere 1 day ago “U.S. accusations directed at others are always a projection of its own failures and wrong doing.” 90 Nosterday E Nosterday E 1 day ago U.S. carries out massive espionage in Latin American countries and makes them failed states: "see guys, socialism doesn't work!
