Military tensions in the Pacific are rising. Taiwan states that China’s recent military exercises within its air defense buffer zone were the most significant threat to its security. In this video we answer the following: 1) Will China invade Taiwan? 2) Can/will the US defend Taiwan risking a major armed conflict with China? 3) Could defending Taiwan lead to a wider war beyond the Taiwan Strait? One thing is sure: Independent Taiwan is a political stain on the legitimacy of the Chinese Communist Party, although the ruling government in Beijing has never exercised full authority over the island. Gman Singh 何必问 Gman Singh 何必问 2 months ago Saying China invading Taiwan its own province is like saying America invading New York. 198 Peter Coombes Peter Coombes 2 months ago I think the question is not will China invade Taiwan but, and it goes to your last comment in the video, will the US interfere in Taiwan with destabilizing arms sales, promoting Taiwanese independence and other covert action with the intention of provoking a Chinese military response, similar to what the US did in Hong Kong? 72 Daniel Lee Daniel Lee 2 months ago Sadly you are mistaken - the political structure did NOT become worse in Hong Kong. Please do your research. 30 M'boi HK M'boi HK 2 months ago China govt policy is not to hurt its own people. Its policy is to unite all Chinese peacefully. You could see why mainland never use force to hurt its own people during one years of hong kong protest. So, China will never invade or hurt Taiwan militarily. It will unite with it peacefully. The reason China show military near Taiwan is just to warn outsiders like Americans. Anyone who think mainland China will kill or invade its own people don't understand what China is about. China will never do that. 103 Louie Lee Louie Lee 2 months ago I agree that China does not have intention to force re-unification. However, US is deliberately trying to provoke military action as it would suit its political and economic agenda to disrupt trade and co-operation in Asia. It then can be seen as world saviour. Just hope China doesn't fall into US trap. 58 Mimi Song Mimi Song 2 months ago It's "repossession ", NOT "invasion"! It has been and still is, as stipulated in the Constitution of Republic of China (Taiwan) : that Taiwan is a Province of China! The current ruling party in Taiwan wants to "amend" its constitution, but hesitant to do so fearing of the dire consequences! 50 Barney Google Barney Google 2 months ago Time is on China's side. They're getting politically and militarily stronger and the U.S. is losing global influence. The world is getting tired of their interference in the affairs of other countries. Taiwan isn't going to cut off its nose to spite its face, nor will China. They both stand to benefit long term by resolving their differences. 42 eymeera osaka eymeera osaka 2 months ago Basically you are right in your analysis that China will not want to invade Taiwan but to eventually reunite it peacefully subject to a caveat. If US or Taiwan crosses China's red line by declaring Taiwan independence or if there is a major breach by the US of the One China Policy. However, you over-rated Taiwan's military capability and under-rated China? The reality is that Taiwan's military capability is puny as compared to that of China. I am even doubtful if the US is able to come to Taiwan's rescue if there is a forced take-over? Furthermore, besides the fact that a significant proportion of the people of Taiwan are pro-China, China has been preparing for this takeover for years. The backlash form the international community may also be exaggerated if China is forced to take this action. As can be seen from the Hong Kong experience, the US, UK, Canada and Australia are the countries together with its Western medias that continues to huff and puff and demonize China but all to no avail. The rest of the world just couldn't care less as this is China's internal problem and also, just as Hong Kong is a sovereign issue, so is Taiwan. No country will ever give up its sovereign territory regardless of the cost? 15 권순정 권순정 2 months ago China will never ever invade Taiwan, because Taiwan is a part of China. The appropriate question is " will US invade China with military might under the cover of really nasty propaganda ?"
