Does he mean in the US or globally? Neither seem to fit. The US certainly doesn't fight for those principles at home or abroad. The west unleashes constant wars, we all know are unnecessary and in many cases illegal. We are not under attack, but constantly at war. China isn't. We have some of the highest lack of equality in the world and western led global capitalism enforces extreme inequality and human right abuses across the globe. Global capitalism under western leadership has not alleviated poverty world wide, but made it worse. 90% of poverty elimination over the past few decades has occurred in one country... China. They better stop sounding so sanctimonious because it sounds ridiculous even as westerner myself!
