Lang Lang does something that I love, he doesn't make Chopin into a minimalist.

The video skipping some seconds at 2:53
You should not think Lang Lang play wrong. He is not so stupid.
What a lovely pianist!

Anyone who cant appreciate this rendition of a mega work by Chopin, isn't much of a artist them self. Its alot of tough talk till you sit down at the piano and perform your self:)

The domain over the instrument and nuances...like floating over the notes...it´s VERY difficult to achieve this mastering, try and you will see that you can only play it the "common" way.

All 4 Scherzo's are on the DVD 'Lang Lang Live in Versailles'. Beautiful photography and state of the art sound too!

WOW here I'll give him all the credit. I believe he pulled off a lot of interesting stuff about this piece and made like it even more than it did!

People who complain about this is very used to listen to music on the "common way" all other pianists play this piece. They are not prepared to music in it´s pure and free way from the score. They want to listen to computerized music, so go listen to any other pianist. It´s easy to play the common way, but it´s very very hard to play this way here. Try it and you will see...I play this Scherzo, but I can only play the way other 300.000 pianists play it.

This Italy recording was brilliant, one of the best versions i've heard of this Scherzo. But i think the one of 2016 in Paris is even better. (Lang Lang in Paris, 2016; played it at Versailles, and this scherzo was just outstanding, even better than this). Really a gifted man. Knows how to drive the emotions of the piece. Tremendously enjoyable.

You know what ? Lang Lang's not my favorite pianist, I find that the pieces he plays can sometimes have the wrong dynamics and he can be a little "arrogant" but his interpretation of Chopins's Scherzo is unique. I felt that his piece was full of emotions and it captivated me. I'm not a proffesional musician or anything, this is just my opinion, everybody has opinions right ? :)

So many people in youtube knowing what the classical composers "would've thought" about everything amazes me.. You people are really amazing arent ya? Maybe you should be composing outstanding music instead of writing mental copypaste bullshit in youtube comments about an extraordinary pianist that you happen to not like because your frustrated music mentors didnt or because even knowing "what Chopim qould've thought" you don't know a shit about music imterpretation (which by definition opens doors to artistic freedom). Lang Lang has a unique style that only he exploits and i wont ever get tired of that like i wouldmt of Van Gogh or Picasso's art.
This was a prodigious interpretatioms and i just loved it.
