UK Prime Minister Theresa May is holding an emergency meeting to discuss how London will respond to Iran’s recent seizure of a UK oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker and its 23 crewmembers now sit in a heavily guarded Iranian port. Iranian officials said the seizure was a justified response to the UK's role in impounding an Iranian supertanker two weeks earlier off the coast of Gibraltar. Meanwhile, tensions have escalated between Tehran and Washington after Iran claims it broke up a spy ring. The country arrested 17 people with alleged ties to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
