https://democracynow.org - While Mexico and Uruguay are calling for dialogue to address the crisis in Venezuela, much of Latin America has sided with the Trump administration by recognizing Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s new leader. We look at what this mean for the broader region with professors Alejandro Velasco and Steve Ellner. Democracy Now! is an independent global news hour that airs weekdays on nearly 1,400 TV and radio stations Monday through Friday. Perhaps Venezuela, would be in much better shape if the US would stop imposing sanctions and meddling in their internal affairs.

I love how, Trump says, Socialism is the culprit, not the vulture capitalists that lie about weapons of mass destruction, and who rip off the tax payers for literally trillions of dollars, and attack other countries and steal their National Resources calling them, terrorists. Retarded thugs like Trump who repeat the Party line, are just beating the Zionist Drum who run the Banking System.

This is all about US corporations wanting to get richer and richer. Nothing more and nothing less. Poor American men and women are going to be sent there to fight as soldiers for these rich people. WHY DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT IT?

Did the US REALLY think that Russia and China were going to sit silently by in this day and age of American Imperialistic Collapse? It may degenerate into a third world war, but the US will never get control of Latin America without the whole world knowing they brought it on. As good a final chapter to the history books as any I guess. Sad to say, when I see my own country of Canada supporting these maniacs, I'm well past the point of caring.

Most corrupt country in the world: USA. National Emergency in the USA means Martial Law. The President can put soldiers on the streets and they can shoot citizens freely, the President can make or change any law, etc. There is no provision in the law for a limited National Emergency to build a wall. The President says he is preparing now to declare Martial Law, just like in other countries where a Dictator took over by declaring Martial Law to "save the country" .

What the United States of America is doing to Venezuela is enforcing regime change, not with bombs like in Syria, but with hunger, sanctions and support for terrorism and the murder of Maduro. Even the mainstream media way of dealing with the regime change is the same, in Brasil the media used to call Assad a dictator, and did this for years. Just recently it changed back to "president", with no explanation whatsoever. Calling Maduro a dictator is just about the same. The United States of America is a dying empire, and will die for multiple reckless wars.

Trump is lying to us. Maduro is democratically elected by the majority of it's people. Our politicians are pushing the will of the corporations of the elites.

US interference in Latin America without a Latin American "Marshal Plan" by the U.S. is a non sequitar. You want to stop illegal immigration? Start helping Latin America to help themselves!

First of all, it is not the USA, it is the Zionists who run it. Second, Brazil has already fallen to the Zionists with the election of Bolsonaro. Brazil is currently being divided up among the Zionist oligarchs as I type. They already handed over the Amazon Rain Forest to the Agriculture Industrial Complex. They already booted native Americans out of the Amazon and off other land. CNN is setting up their propoganda stations right now too. They picked a Brazilian man who uses slave labor to run CNN Brazil. From Brazil, the Zionists spread like the virus/plague that they are. Boycott Apartheid Israel. BSD. Boycott White Zionist Jews.

It is appalling that our government is doing this all out in the open and that the major corporate media in the US is not informing the public about the reality of what is occurring there.

Where is the U.S. media to critique these actions by their government?  MSNBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, FOX, don't even report on the bigger picture (i.e.  U.S. intervention)

As long as America can continue this behavior there can be no peace on this planet. There has to be a counter balance.

One can make the analogy that the right wing in America are out of touch with the developments of socialist economies like an old man with Alzheimer's, is out of touch with reality. The socialist economies are world-wide, from Asia to Latin America to eastern Europe, have caught up to the US, they have had fifty to 80 years to develop, integrate with each other, form their own trade and commerce, some have surpassed US productivity. Washington is not out of touch with that reality but fearful of it. Plain and simple. Elites have no choice but to assert themselves as a victim of a menacing authority, and socialism is a menacing authority, to them. I would not expect the elites to behave in any other way but with hostility to the world in a vicious struggle for survival. Like taking the keys aways from a reckless driver they will fight for their last stand of independence, freedom and liberty.

The US has been behind the downfall of democratic countries in South and Latin America since the early 1900's. They don't want democracy to exist and have gone in with CIA hit squads, money to grease political leaders hands and whatever else they can do to get hold of mineral wealth and eliminate any potential rivals to the NWO. This is the same methodology in Africa as well.

As an uninformed American I don't know much about life in Latin America or Venezuela, so I'm only guessing that if I was Venezuelan I would want to replace Maduro because he's not an effective leader and he knows it. But I know I wouldn't want him to be replaced with a neoliberal like the south Florida conservatives who want Guaido. Neoliberal policies are just corruption and economic stagnation even worse than mismanaged socialist policies. Whether or not Maduro is replaced, the Bolivars still have the majority political voice in Venezuela, not the neoliberals, so a neoliberal takeover would not be legitimate. The US should not try to impose that. It would only lead to prolonged violence. I hope Venezuela can avoid any violence even if America or anyone else encourages it. Of course the US should never have sanctioned Venezuela. That was a criminal response on America's part to our government disagreeing with Venezuela's internal politics. Bush was wrong to impose sanctions, and Obama and Trump should have lifted them instead of imposing more. Unfortunately American people aren't aware of how we have hurt Venezuela with our sanctions.
