At this years World Economic Forum in Davos there was no shortage of issues to be discussed: trade disputes, climate change and the political and economic impact of the upcoming Brexit. If Britain didn't manage a smooth exit from the European Union the head of Goldman Sachs warned that the banking giant would scale down investment in the UK. He thereby mirrored this years underlying sentiment in Davos: a lot of concern, but few real answers. And it is there that Billionaire investor George Soros had some strong words for the Chinese president. Mr. Soros called President Xi Jinping "the most dangerous enemy" of free societies, saying that China's 'social credit system' would give Mr. Xi total control over his people. Beijing is currently developing a facial recognition system which Mr. Soros says would enable the government to use algorithms to determine how big a threat an individual poses to the regime. He also said U-S tech giants like Facebook needed to be reined in for the sake of democracy.

READ THIS WITH AN OPEN MIND

It's sad because every American will be the first to leap to defend their country and condemn others but I understand. It's patriotism that blinds you. You think of the USA as this high and mighty country that does only right, a justice warrior that brings down the "commies", a protector of peace, but if you take a step back to look through an unbiased lens you will see that it is not always the truth.

You claim the Chinese have no human rights and are oppressed yet you are the ones speaking on their behalf halfway across the world. Have you ever considered that the majority of their people are happy? Of course you chalk this down to being "brainwashed by the Chinese government" but having visited, their people are genuinely happy. Of course there are going to be some that oppose those views but they literally have a population of 1.4 billion people.

You condemn surveillance in China yet everyday, your being watched by the NSA. Snowden exposed the truth and now he is hiding out in Russia out of fear. That doesn't sound that much better to me.

Their political system is bad you say, but is the USAs that much better. How many external influences USA politics? Much more than you think (Israeli influences).

But China is corrupt you cry. Have you seen the CIA? If your truly open to finding out the truth, just look up some of the monstrosities they have committed. MK-Ultra (program where they tried to mind control people using LSD) / Tuskegee Experiments (deliberately denying black men syphilis treatment in order to observe the effects) / The Iran, Chilean, Brazilian coups / the list goes on and on....

China censors everything and blinds their people with nothing but lies! This is what the majority of American media does too! You are misguided if you do not think each media outlet doesn't have an agenda they are pushing. Your own president even labels your media as "Fake News".

When China decides to build infrastructure and roads in Africa which have been lacking for 100's of years, you call it "debt traps" while it is called "humanitarian efforts" when the USA do it.

You condemn Chinese companies like Huawei, that compete with American companies, banning and accusing them of spying and arresting their CFO, with little evidence based on groundless accusations.

Your against dictatorships and communism, standing for human rights and equality for all, yet your allied with one of the most brutal regimes in Saudi Arabia. That just shows you that your principles aren't grounded in helping countries out of the goodness and kindness of your heart, but rather personal interests and gains.

It is like the runner in the race who sees the competitor catching up and has to stick a leg out to trip them up in order to keep the lead in the race. This is not right.

And in no way am I saying China is a saint because truth be told, no country is. There are several human rights and political issues that need to be addressed there but that is for them to figure out.

You can call me all the names under the sun, call me a commie, call me someone who has brought into "Chinese propaganda" but at the end of the day, I couldn't care less.

It truly doesn't bring me more joy to see the USA fall nor any other country in the world. I would much rather see countries working side by side, bettering one another, rather striving to improve humanity as a whole. This starts with self-reflection and the openness of mind to see things from another perspective and not just our own. After all, peace cannot be kept by force, it can only be achieved by understanding.
