China and the United States are on the brink of a trade war. In response to US tariffs, China has hit back with its own, and so far neither side is backing down. But underneath the rhetoric are two different views of how trade should be conducted and regulated. As a result, China has lodged a complaint with the World Trade Organization. So what are these underlying issues? What do national and international law say about what should be done? And will differences in world views continue to cause problems for world trade?

Change must first come from the heart of Americans and how they view the Chinese. The Chinese, as we all know who have studied their culture, believe in "saving face," and not being brought to open-shame. Public disgrace or embarrassment is very bad. So, in dealing with China - whether US Naval operations in the South China Sea or otherwise, the US should not make its disputes with China go public, but rather deal with these issues on a diplomatic level. Secondly, China is not a warmongering nation, a conception often wrongly held in the West. China is a people of industry and thrift, and they are doing what they have always done, namely, TRADE. Do not punish them for engaging in trade. The US trade deficit with China is a natural cause and can be attributed to the fact that goods in the USA are more pricey than in China, and while the average American can afford to pay for Chinese goods and products, the average Chinese with his low salary CANNOT afford to buy American goods and products. He can find a cheaper product in his own country.

China doesn't have to follow the US's rules and laws. They have their own ways, and China has its own. The two evolved differently given the different historical circumstances. If the US doesn't like it, then they just don't do business in China. No one can say one is right and the other is wrong. If Chinese companies want to do business in the US, they have to follow the US laws, and if the US companies want to do business in China, they have to follow the Chinese laws. It's that simple. If the US says otherwise, just beat the living crap out of them.
