This past October, Cao Dewang, a billionaire from China, opened a new factory in Moraine, Ohio. We meet Dewang in Moraine, where he gives us a tour of the factory, and talks to us about his decision to open it, the business climate in the U.S. and the differences between American and Chinese workers (over lunch at a nearby Chinese restaurant he likes). We also talk to a factory worker who used to work for GM, but is happy about his new gig, and the mayor of the town, which suddenly has thousands more jobs than it did less than a year ago.

Because Chinese labor is now only 4% cheaper than U.S. labor, there’s been an influx of Chinese investment in the U.S. — from just over $2 billion in 2011 to nearly $55 billion last year. WATCH NEXT: This exiled Chinese billionaire uses Youtube to wage a war on corruption - http://bit.ly/2klZzAe

This is a very telling video at 4:40 mark. The Union official clearly wants more of the pie while the employee just wants the job to be safer.

Chinese guy opens up plant in US because he likes the culture, people, and business climate. thousands of blue collar workers guaranteed a good paying job to support their families. and in comments below all people are doing are bitching about china, makes literally no sense. anyone who's bitchin has no idea whats going on a macroeconomic level.

Steve getting paid and showing some classic down home gratitude. He gets to contribute to his SS, 401K, shop at Walmart, Health Insurance, and drink some beers. Or a Labor union that watches weeds grow and sit around. I'd love to see him leave and suddenly 2,000 people have no jobs in the boonies.

Oh the Union workers...sorry it's not a plush GM job. There's a reason you don't have a job anymore and it's because they're not guaranteed to give you a job for life. It's a job, you're a worker, do the work for go somewhere else. If it's a safety issue, you file your complain with OSHA, they do their thing and it gets remedied. I like unions to an extent but you can tell when a man has been in the unions for far too long because he expects $60/hr. with full benefits and very little work output which is the reason why half of these men lost their jobs in the first place. When cost exceeds profit or if they can produce cheaper somewhere else, they're going to do that because well, that's business. Union halls kill jobs in the long run by making everything intolerable for the employers. If I didn't have to hire union workers in my area to supplement our private workers, I'd never hire a damn union worker. You could work for me privately with the same money and benefits (posted-rate jobs so doesn't matter) but I cannot stand dealing with unions.

Plus he doesn't have to give up 50% income to the country as in China. This is exactly why French businesses left to neighboring countries.

Wow and all I can think is how sad it is that foreign investment might be the only thing that will save dying cities and towns in the US
