Im a licensed health care agent. Here are the stats to give you better perspective. The deductible is 5K right, plus the premium of whatever rate you pay. Well the national average is 96.4% of Americans will not spend more than 5K per year in health care cost. So the insurance companies set the rate at 5K knowing damn good and well over 90% of the people will never hit that amount in a year... go figure. So all that money you paid in premium is pocketed by the insurance companies and then congress in the form of kickbacks, bribes and inside trading.
